Yanick's Guide to Web Authoring

For Cryin' It Out Loud, Why?

"Yanick", I hear some of you cry, "web authoring is a very broad topic and you leave us wondering. What is this site exactly about?" To be absolutly and utterly frank, I haven't the foggiest. Let me explain myself.

This page is firstly and mostly for my brothers. Both of them are interested in web authoring (or, at least, they fake they do when I'm around) and I feel it's my duty as an older brother to bore them to death with my knowledge of the web.

"But", some of you may say, "your brothers speaks French, why do you write this in English?". Well, I write this in English mainly because (a) it will do them good to read English, (b) my technical writing sucks even more in French than in English, (c) I have other friends who may enjoy the reading of this site and (d) an angel woke me up one night to tell me so.

Anyway, to return to this site's goals, I intend in a first time to gives an introduction to the web and its inhabitants (creepy crawlies like HTML, CGI, Javascript, Java and the such). After that I will try to go here and there, talking about the stuff that people want to know (well, up to a certain extend, I will in no way reveal the secret ingredient of my sucre à la crème). So, feedback is more than welcome and if you have a questionthat burn your lips, just send it to good old Yanick and he will try to answer as best as he can. And for those who hope: even if I sincerely pray for feedback, its abscence will not shut me up.

I was almost forgetting, in addition to all that I also want to have a section dedicated to the Webelements of Style, where I will gladly reveal my fascistic convictions about the wrong and right ways of building a web document.

A last thing before concluding this lengthy introduction. I do not pretend to any web authority. I'm only am ordinary smuck with a passable knowledge of the web and a passion to listening to his own voice. You have been warned. Now go and enjoy yourselves!
